Highway Plant Co. Ltd – established in 1983 – pioneered the use of access platforms in Northern Ireland by educating users to the safety benefits and timescale advantages to using hydraulic platforms rather than the traditional manual ladder and scaffold approach of the day.
In the 80’s trailer mounted platforms were brought into Northern Ireland permitting users to hire and tow away an access platform for the first time. Truck mounted platforms, self propelled scissor lifts and boom platforms quickly followed. Since these early days the business has grown steadily through a commitment to customer service and an unrivalled level of industry expertise to innumerable prestigious clients all over Ireland.
Highway’s Head Office Belfast base is a one acre site in Dunmurry which houses Hire and Administration staff, a purpose-built Training facility, and an expansive Engineering and Logistic Department capable of servicing customer access platform requirements the length and breadth of the country. Today Highway’s specialist access platform fleet is comprehensive and ranges from one man pedestrian personnel lifts right up to Superbooms.
Throughout the years, Highway’s ethos has always remained the same, to encourage and promote safe working at height by providing excellent highly specific equipment and customer service which is second to none. This, in conjunction with the commitment and reinvestment in staff training, has ensured that Highway remains at the forefront of the access industry.
